A garment inspired by an essential item for family gatherings, an apron. It boasts a professional cut, designed following the patterns used in kitchens worldwide – it's long and covers the sides.
The design was created with the support of La Workshop and their Project Manager, Cuauhtémoc. It's a casually professional piece, crafted to the standards of any apron in a 5-star restaurant, but more importantly, it can withstand any Latin family barbecue or gathering.
The intricate embroidery details are done in collaboration with Jessica, a hand embroiderer from Santo Domingo Xenacoj. Jessica leads a group of hand embroiderers dedicated to preserving the traditions of güipiles and ancestral embroidery. Each piece is handmade and inspired by an item she used as a child. The embroideries feature a quetzal, a squirrel eating, and a maternal figure.
Inside the apron, you'll find the inscription that says, "If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together."
This is a piece that we thoroughly enjoyed creating.
